Re: Board Members Meeting in Appalachia All Day

First off, people eating at the same place does not break the law. If they went to the same church, they wouldn't have to quit attending. Hope they all didn't decide to attend a ballgame

Now, it appears to me that people are starting to realize something has to be done, it just is going to require something that, at least in my mind, affects everybody. Keep being hopeful that Norton does jump in, and they can go to 3 schools on seperate sites. I'm not sold on the 3-1 thing. It might be glorious but I'm kind of gunshy on that much population, bus traffic, etc all at one place. If they could get Norton in on it, they could afford 3 with the reduced rates, but getting everybody to hush, decide to work together and work on something that helps/hurts all is difficult as crap. Not to mention if they all did realize it, 5 minutes later someone doesn't agree/understand it, starts changing the details and people get in a tizzy.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

As for the cell phones- if you need one that bad 5 bucks a month shouldn't bother you. I'd give 5 cents a can more for pop if it would build schools. But you can see from the different ideas about taxes, most are looking for something that doesn't raise their taxes.
Okay, that's fine and dandy, but who has that many cars? That'd bring in a small amount of money because it's just not that common to have that many cars. You have to be smart about it, you need something that applies to a wide range or people because that equals a large amount of revenue. You take something everyone uses and uses often, then apply a tiny tax on it, enough to bring in plenty of revenue but financially feasible for all of these people - esp. the lower/middle class...all the while not not hurting sales(that much) or breaking anyone. That's why I believe a soda tax, among others, is absolutely perfect.

A tiny tax on things that everyone uses daily is a great idea, a toilet paper tax is an excellent idea, everyone needs it and uses it several times a day, and buys it weekly.

Still not 8 though or some high number, that's not bad at all. I'm just saying it wouldn't bring in that much revenue if we're just taxing "extra" vehicles, assuming they have them and assuming they don't decide to use them once they learn they'll get taxed if they don't. If that's what he's say, hell I don't even know what we're talking about with the cars thing, could be waaaaay off. Maybe he can explain it a little better for my dumbass.

Those folks eating together is against the law? Really? Am I missing something?

No offense but consolidation needs to happen.

i believe he is using that as an example of a luxury tax. Stuff people dont need but get anyway. I think Appalachia should tax every coal haul that comes through, that would bring in a ton of money, if NOT for schools they should do this to upkeep our roads. I mean, I hate to tell you all but in the next few years appalachia will probably do some growing. There is more and more coal being bought every day and a lot of it is on the upturn. now im not against consolidation, im all for it. I just think they need to come up with a plan that isnt grossly ridiculous.
Cant we all just get along?
